CGS Level I Schedule
Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Level I (CGS I) is a beautiful program for children ages 3-6 that gives a foundation in the Mass and Sacred Scriptures. It builds seamlessly into our First Communion program, so we encourage you to start your children young!
- Sundays 8:30-9:45 AM Rooms #9 and #10
- Tuesdays 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM Room #10
We do ask that 3 year olds be fully potty trained before attending.

What is Catechesis of the Good Shepherd? (CGS)
The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd program offers children a special time and place to nurture their relationship with God. This Montessori based approach was founded in Rome more than 60 years ago by two women, Hebrew and Scripture scholar Sofia Cavalletti and Montessori guide Gianna Gobi.
The special environment called an “atrium” is prepared for children. It is filled with hands-on materials they can use. The materials have been carefully prepared by hand, and are focused on themes from the Bible and the Mass.
Children usually receive a presentation at the beginning of an atrium session and then are allowed time to choose a work themselves. “Let me grow closer to God by myself.”
