Faith Formation

  At the core of our Catholic Faith is a deep and meaningful relationship with the person of Jesus Christ. Our catechism classes are designed to create opportunities for encounters with God. Our goal is for our students not to just know about Jesus, but rather to know Jesus, personally, and desire to be his disciples! To know Jesus, and to make Him known, as Father Greg says.
  The Church teaches that parents have the primary role in the formation of their children. (Catechism of the Catholic Church 2223). Therefore, our program is designed to aid parents in this role. Parents are expected to be active participants in the instruction of their children, and to be involved in the life of the parish. This can be through volunteering as a classroom aide or signing up to help out at one of our events. It can include being involved in the liturgy as a lector or being part of the hospitality team at Mass. We need active Catholics in our parish for it to be fully alive! There are numerous opportunities for you to get involved.
  To be an aide or catechist, you just need to love the Lord, be enthusiastic for the faith, be living a sacramental life, and be willing to share the witness of the Faith! All volunteers are fingerprinted and cleared through the diocesan process.   I understand the importance of Sunday Mass and commit to attending Sunday Mass each week at St Andrew’s or at another Catholic church unless illness prevents us.
  I understand that it is important for my child to attend Faith Formation classes regularly, and that I will send a note of explanation for any unavoidable absences.
  I understand my responsibility to bring my child on time, and pick my child up within 15 minutes after being released from class.
  I accept my baptismal responsibility of being the primary religious education teacher of my child, supported by the Church.
