Joining us this year for the celebration will be Teens and young adults from Our Lady of the Mountains, St. Patrick’s (Bisbee), Our Lady of Lourdes (Benson), and Holy Family (Ft. Huachuca), with our own Parish, a total of 50 of our Teens and adults, will receive the Sacrament at the 5:00 PM Mass this Sunday evening!
All are invited to attend this Mass with our Bishop, but the church does fill up early! So, if you regularly attend the 5:00 PM “Life Teen Mass” please know that it will be more crowded than usual!
Congratulations to this wonderful group of folks being Confirmed, and special “thanks” to our Youth Minister, Deacon Bill Polakowski, and his wonderful Formation Team, who have been working with this group for the past two years: Carl & Colleen Ashmead, Julian Valenzuela, Jennifer Brumfield, Anita Herrera, Wendy Kulp, Kate Polakowski, Christine Sulentic, Jersey Lane, Melissa Borges, Damian Rueda , Diana Eggers, Chuck Granke, Dalton Davidson, Yvonne Ramey, David Weinberg, Christina Wernette, Chrisalynn Wernette, Amaya Serrano, Gabe Slone, Aiden Fitzpatrick, Jackson Weinberg, Andrew Ramey, Jandee Howton, and Mariah, Moreno!
Anointed with Sacred Chrism, those being Confirmed will be strengthened by the Holy Spirit to fulfill their Calling -- as disciples of the Lord!
Unlike Graduation, which marks the end of a person’s life as a student, Confirmation marks the beginning – of a young Christian’s life as a maturing adult, personally responding to JESUS’ invitation to “Follow ME”!
Those who are being Confirmed will assume a greater role in the life of the Church, all of them as active participants in the worship and service of God’s People; some of them as Priests, Deacons and Consecrated Religious Women!
One of the three Sacraments which mark a Believer “indelibly” – (Baptism and Holy Orders, are the other two), Confirmation “seals” a person with the Power of the Holy Spirit and gives them a ‘character’ – impressed upon and fashioned by the Lord.
Because of this new ‘character’ and status, those receiving Confirmation receive a ‘new name’ – a Confirmation name, usually that of a Saint, which the person has chosen because of the ‘Christian character’ of that Saint, which they want to emulate in their own Faith Walk!
The celebration of the Sacrament of Confirmation – is one of the real “high points” in the life of a Parish! Welcoming young believers as adult members and sharers in the life of commitment and service, is a BIG moment in the life of the Family of God!
Please pray for those receiving this wonderful Sacrament this Sunday and extend your congratulations to them! THANK YOU to all who have made a “Second Mile” donation to the Annual Catholic Appeal, and, please, if you have not yet made a donation, consider doing so now! A gift
of any amount will be GREATLY APPRECIATED! (“If you let the fire of charity go out in your heart, many will die of the cold.” – St. Vincent de Paul)
