Did you know that on Sunday we celebrated our 12th Annual Ministry Fair and our Annual Parish Picnic? Beginning in 2013 we began featuring our various ministries and apostolates in a “County Fair” format, following the morning Masses. All of our ministries are invited to “display” their particular services and spirituality in the area around the Kiosk and under the Kino Hall porch, and we invite all of our parishioners – as well as our visitors – to take a stroll through the displays! The purpose of our Ministry Fair is three-fold: to let our parishioner “see” all of the different ministries and services being offered through our Parish, to allow people to ‘connect’ ministries with “faces”, their fellow parishioners serving in these ministries, and, of course, to invite participation in those ministries! This year the “Annual Report to the Parish” by our Parish/Finance Council, the report on the Financial health of the Parish, and the major accomplishments of the past year will be given later this month – so much going on, with Father Anthony Corcoran’s visit, etc. – the “Annual Report” will be coming soon! Our Annual Parish Picnic – an ‘institution’ of many years! – is once again hosted by our Knights of Columbus, Bishop Salpointe Council #4584! The Annual Parish Picnic is a potluck delight, with lots of food, music, rides and games for the kids, sing-a-long, and a wonderful opportunity to ‘connect’ with our fellow Parishioners, to invite friends or fallen-aways to re-connect! It has been observed that in a large Parish, such as ours, one’s “experience of Parish” may be limited to the particular Mass that you attend regularly! The Annual Parish Picnic is a come-together event for the whole Parish community: a kind of ‘homecoming’, family reunion, and kids’ party all rolled into one! THANK YOU to all of you who make the Annual Ministry Fair and Parish Picnic such a joyful event every ear!
WELCOME HOME, Father Bob Gonzalez, from his seven-weeks ‘mission’ in Bavaria, assisting with Masses, evangelizing, and energizing the Faithful there! We are very glad to have Father Bob back home! (Thank you to James Harper, Jim Ramey, and Michael Prostka for working on our St. Francis House preparing for Father Bob’s homecoming!)
SCAM alert – we have been told that some of you have received text messages purporting to be from one of our Priests – asking for gift card donations. This is a SCAM, as NO ONE FROM OUR PARISH STAFF will EVER solicit gifts/gift cards/money by email or text message! If you have received such a solicitation, DO NOT RESPOND, but give our Parish Office a call and let us know if you have received such a solicitation!
